Current Issues on Immigration: The Invisible Population

The event took place on Sept 27, 2012 at 10:00 am in the WSU North/South Auditorium. Between 100-130 students, staff, faculty and administrators attended the panel presentation.  The panel was moderated by Professor Aldo Guevara and the panelists were Mr. Randy Feldman, Immigration Attorney, Professor Jose Mendoza, Philosophy Department, Instructor Saba Al Khadady, Computer Science, two exchange students from South Korea, Seojeong Kim and Yirang Shin. Mr. Feldman discussed the state of immigration law in the US and how the political and social climates influence immigration policies. Professor Mendoza provided  a philosophical perspective on immigration. Personal experiences were shared by Instructor Al Khadady on how she came to the United States as a refugee from Iraq. The students shared their experiences in this country.

The audience responded very positively/ enthusiastically to the panelists. The moderator skillfully facilitated a question-answer session. The panelists thanked the Center for Teaching and Learning for organizing the event.
